Why Forensic Science

Forensic science is primarily concerned with the application of scientific principles for the investigation of crime. Using the very latest in technology, forensic scientists convert the clues collected from a crime scene into evidence admissible in a court of law. It is the use or application of science in courts or legal proceedings. This is a challenging and interesting field for those who have are inquisitive and loves adventure. Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education offers B.Sc. in Forensic Science. The course has been designed around the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. A student in the Bachelor’s degree is trained in all disciplines of Forensic Science and Law, and is also imparted knowledge in basic science disciplines of Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Computer Science. Students of this course are given hands-on access to top-of-the-line analytical instruments like various Spectrometers (UV-Visible), Research Microscopes, Chromatographic and Electrophoretic Systems, PCR, etc. A student of B.Sc. gets trained in the disciplines of Digital Forensic Investigations, Cyber and Network Security, Cyber Laws, Biometrics, Signal and Multimedia Evidence Processing, Image Processing and most uniquely in Incident Response Management. This course is unique and offers curriculum especially designed to keep in mind the desired industrial requirements. Courses are taught with focus on hands-on practical exercises done in an abundant dedicated laboratory with state of the art equipment.

Why Forensic Science
at Kalasalingam ?

  • Graduates would be able to work in a variety of scientific disciplines. With an emphasis on forensic applications and the presentation of expert evidence in criminal trials, the programme prepares graduates for work in forensic laboratories.
  • Besides imparting theoretical knowledge, the curriculum emphasizes on developing analytical skills, communication, problem solving abilities and team work.
  • Collaboration with industries and central/state-government owned forensic labs ensures practical training on real life cases and the indispensable experience of actual case handling.
  • Acquire professional and intellectual integrity, professional code of conduct, ethics of research and scholarship, consideration of the impact of research outcomes on professional practices and an understanding of responsibility to contribute to the community for sustainable development of society.
