Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education

M.Sc. – Mathematics

VISION

To be a global centre of excellence in Mathematics for the growth of science and technology.

MISSION

1. To provide quality education and research in Mathematics through updated curriculum, effective teaching learning process.

2. To inculcate innovative skills, teamwork, ethical practices among students so as to meet societal expectations.

Overview

The Department of Mathematics was established in 1984. Since then, the Institute’s competence in all aspects has played an important role in all departments. The department started offering B.Sc. (Mathematics) in the year 2015. The faculty team consists of various specializations such as Graph Theory, Queuing Theory, Topology, Fuzzy logic, Statistics, Operations analysis, and so on. The department has well-equipped laboratories where innovative ideas are sown in the minds of the students.

Why M.Sc.- Mathematics?

Field of specialization in

  1. Graph Theory
  2. Statistics
  3. Fuzzy Mathematics
  4. Queuing Models
  5. Complex Analysis
  6. Control Theory
  7. Stochastic Differential Equations
  8. Variational Inequality
  9. Counting Theory
  10. Fixed Point Theory

These courses have project work which shall be carried out under the supervision of a qualified teacher which will help students to enhance their practical approach regarding the subject. These wide range of courses in algebra, analysis, geometry and probability gives additional perspectives on the mathematical theories by combining general and modern concepts. The course curriculum is designed in a way that it will help students to understand the theory of optimization methods. They will acquire ability to apply the mathematical results and numerical techniques of optimization theory to concrete financial related problems. Well equipped laboratories and highly qualified faculties help students in solving and analyzing mathematical problems. A future PhD education is definitely a possibility you have thought about and you would value an opportunity to get in closer contact with current research.

Program Outcomes (PO)

POs describe what students are expected to know or be able to do by the time of graduation from the programme. The Program Outcomes of UG in Mathematics are:

At the end of the programme, the students will be able to:

1. Think in a critical manner.

2. Know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand.

3. Formulate and develop mathematical arguments in a logical manner.

4. Acquire good knowledge and understanding in advanced areas of mathematics and statistics, chosen by the student from the given courses.

6. Understand, formulate and use quantitative models arising in social science, business and other contexts.

Technical Proficiency:

Provide a degree course, suitable for students of high ability, combining and relating mathematics, statistics, and the social sciences.

Professional Growth:

Prepare students for further study, or for professional and managerial careers, particularly in areas requiring the application of quantitative skills.

Management Skills:

Provide students with a knowledge of mathematics, Management and the interaction between the two.

Key Recruiters

Students Achievement

This moulded them to develop 10 innovative products in 5 years. They have also got 23 patents and 55 publications under their name. The students have done wonders in the field of extracurricular activities apart from academics. The students took part in many National and International Events” and bagged lots of medals. The students of B.tech- Mechanical Engineering are offered a One Credit Course from the Industry and International Professors. The department invites resource persons from industries and abroad to handle one credit course in order to raise awareness and bring industrial skills to our students (15hours).
Most of the students from the B.Tech Mechanical programme doing their final year Project/ internships at industries/ International universities for a semester.
