About 220 faculty members are with Ph.D qualifications and International research centre established (some major equipment -Scanning Electron Microscope EVO18 (CARL ZEISS),Energy Dispersive X-ray-Spectrometer Quantax 200 with X Flash® 6130,X
– ray diffractometer D8 Advance ECO, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer IR Tracer 100, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer AA 7000) by the institute plays a vital role in promoting the research culture among the faculty members
and students in the campus which resulted more than 40 sponsored research projects worth of 14.5 Crore are ongoing from the Funding agencies such as DST, ICMR, DRDO, MSME, ATAL and four international research projects in collaboration
with Poland, Norway, Malaysia and Thailand and more than 2500 research findings of our faculty members and students are published in the Scopus indexed journals.

This impacted the strong track record of Kalasalingam in terms of research collaborations, funding, publications and patents and the constant existence of Kalasalingam in the top lists of SIR (SCIMAGO Institutions Ranking). It has been in
the history of Kalasalingam to be recognised and awarded with unique centre of excellences since the year 2000 – TIFAC CORE sponsored Network engineering , Centre for Advanced Research in Discrete Mathematics (n-CARDMATH) Funded by DST,
International Collaborative Project with Cracow University of Technology for Sustainable Materials, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand for 3D printed flexible optical fibers using biodegradable PHBV/ Graphene
Nanocomposites for Bio photonics applications, Resilient and optimal microEnergy-grid (ROME), Universiti Teknologi Petronas Biological Treatment of Hazardous Sludge from Petroleum Refinery Industry shows the involvement of Kalasalingam
in developing Science & Technology and Nation Building.

Why Academic Research

Research at Kalasalingam is encouraged through various academic programmes run by the departments and through sponsored programmes funded by national and international organizations and the industry.

Application Procedure:

Applications are called twice in a year through online mode alone. Applicant have to complete the application process by paying an application fee of Rs. 600/- through online mode.

Why B.Com Computer Application

The Department of Commerce was established in 2015 primarily with 2 programmes namely B.Com(General) and B.Com (Computer Applications). It ensures to provide its students an effective learning experience with the state-of-the-art laboratories, experienced faculties and a thought provoking teaching pedagogy. The course is designed in a manner to equip students with the knowledge in commerce as well as in the field of computer programming and computer systems.

This programme aims to train and build agricultural graduates
who will be able to face the demands of encouraging sustainable
agricultural development on a national and global scale, to
build a knowledge base, specifically in agricultural sciences
and allied disciplines, that will allow this vision to become a
reality, especially in dry land pockets of India. The developing
and upgrading of the programme, which leads to a professional
degree in agriculture to make them capable of meeting the needs
of the farmers. Most importantly, the programme aims to promote
the infrastructures for doing research in the important
agricultural disciplines.

The Department offers a B.Com degree program in Computer Application. Thinking of all the practical aspects of learning, the department has established state-of-the-art computer laboratories and libraries. The curriculum is organised in such a way to empower students to have an understanding in the field of Commerce, especially in the discipline that involves the usage of software technology application.

Focusing on the practical exposure of the students, the Department is involved in a variety of activities that are related to industry. It hosts lectures, national and international seminars, and conferences with experts from a variety of reputable and recognised institutions and universities. Students are involved in Industrial Visits to have practical knowledge of how corporations work. The department follows a student-centered, leisurely instructional approach. Students in B.Com (Computer Applications) are provided an opportunity to do online, short term and Value added courses. Students of B.Com (Computer Application) programme also regularly participate in the “National and International events”.
