VISION

The Division of Geriatrics Care serves older adults and patients with advanced or life-
threatening illness by providing leadership and core faculty for innovative models of clinical
care; teaching and instructing students and conducting research that generates new knowledge
contributing to the advancement of science and the quality of life.

MISSION

Perform a comprehensive assessment of an older person, in-patient, outpatient or
community setting, including day hospitals

To Diagnose manage acute illness in old age. To Describe and manage those with chronic disease and disability Provide rehabilitation with the multidisciplinary team.

Be able to apply the knowledge and skills of a competent geriatrician in an intermediate care and/or community setting

Provide specified geriatric care – Palliative care, Orthogeriatrics, Old Age Psychiatry,Specialist Stroke care and other special conditions.

Overview

It aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to work with elderly
patients with various healthcare settings.

Why Geriatric Care Technology?

Geriatric care is important because it allows senior patients to receive specialized care
that understands and takes into consideration their unique needs. 
Geriatricians are known for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams including nurses,
pharmacists, physician assistants, social workers, and many others who work together to
coordinate complex care for older adults and caregivers.
Geriatricians can work in private or group practices, long-term care facilities, post-acute
care facilities, hospitals/health systems, academic medical centers or other research settings.

Eligibility

At the time of admission, a candidate should have successfully passed the examination
conducted by a Board/University at the +2 level of schooling with Pass mark(50% in
Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Diploma in their relevant field (either through formal
schooling for 12 years, or through open school system) or its equivalent.
