VISION

The Department of Clinical Nutrition contributes to health and the prevention of disease
and through effective application of nutrition knowledge to improve human health and well-
being.

MISSION

The Mission of the Department of Clinical Nutrition is to better human health by:

    Contributing to the fundamental knowledge of how nutrients and food components
    function at cellular, systematic, and whole body levels and impact human health and
    disease.

    Contributing to the knowledge-base of nutrition undergraduate and graduate students
    through high quality teaching, training, and research mentorship.

    Providing service to professional, governmental, and local community organizations.

Overview

Clinical nutrition is the prevention, diagnosis & treatment of chronic diseases &
condition leveraging the power of nutrition. Assuring access to healthier food options
promoting the desire & ability to become physically active.

Why Clinical Nutrition?

Clinical nutritionists help patients address their health concerns by formulating nutrition and
lifestyle strategies tailored to their needs and goal.  Clinical nutritionists will often collaborate
with doctors, specialists, and caregivers to craft a nutrition and lifestyle plan that complements
other treatments.
They help prevent and treat chronic diseases — such as obesity, heart disease and diabetes — in
a variety of settings, from health care clinics and schools to at-home consultation.
The demand for clinical nutritionists has grown considerably over the last few years. Many of
them can be seen working in private practices, hospitals, acute care centers and even government
agencies.

Eligibility

At the time of admission, a candidate should have successfully passed the examination
conducted by a Board/University at the +2 level of schooling with Pass mark(50% in
Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Diploma in their relevant field (either through formal
schooling for 12 years, or through open school system) or its equivalent.
