Started in the year 2011, the department offers B.Tech programmes in Automobile engineering, M.Tech. programme in Automotive Systems Engineering and M.Tech programme in Manufacturing Engineering.The department of automobile engineering closely working with the industry experts from the companies like Ford, Hyundai, BMW, Ashok Leyland ,TAFE etc to prepare the students industry ready . The department is known for its excellent corporate relations with industry giants like Ford Motors, Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) etc. The department always strives for excellence in advanced research and “Centre of Advanced Machining’, which is the research aspect of the department is sponsored by the Department of Atomic Energy – Board of Research in Nuclear Science (DAE-BRNS), Mumbai, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climatic Change (MOEFC) and UGC-DAE. The programme is accredited by ABET (USA), an international accreditation body for engineering and technical education. The Department of Automobile Engineering puts massive efforts to deliver uncomparable automobile engineering education using advanced teaching pedagogy and learning support for undergraduate students. The department provides state of the art research infrastructure for postgraduate candidates. The faculty of the Automobile Engineering department motivates students to think out of the box as a practice which resulted in winning several awards in competitions.The B.Tech Automobile engineering programme is offered in collaboration with SIEMENS.


This M.Tech Automotive Systems Engineering Programme is offered in collaboration with Automotive Research Association of Inida( ARAI), pune. In this program students will be studying one year at the insitute and one year they will get full exposure with practical training at ARAI


Kalasalingam- Bosch Centre of excellence

  • This centre provides quality training to students in areas such as diesel systems, gasoline systems, diagnostics, and auto electrical, among others. The training material was created and supported by Bosch with the aim of imparting quality skills that would assist the youth of India in building a sustainable future. The centre is equipped with the most latest Bosch equipment, including a Fuel Injection Test Bench, an Auto Electrical Test Bench, a Diagnostic Scanner, and a Bosch vehicle lift, among other things. Students, technicians, and service members will also benefit from the training center’s joint certification programmes. Every year, an average of 20 training programmes are planned to be conducted. Bosch Training programmes are internationally known for their high-quality pedagogy and training structure. For over a decade, it has provided training programmes to thousands of technicians, service workers, and, more recently, educational institutions. The group’s training courses include in-depth knowledge of emerging technology as well as hands-on experience with the latest equipment, delivered by highly competent and experienced staff.

Research Capability

The department of automobile engineering faculty members actively participate in the research activities which resulted 154 journal articles in peer reviewed journal,2 books as well as 35 book chapters. About 11 projects which are funded by various funding agencies like DRDO,DST,BRNS, Ministry of Environment and Forest worth of INR 2 core are ongoing in the department.

The students of Automobile Engineering participate in numerous “National & International Events”. Students are prepared to compete in major events such as the Indian Karting Championship and other racing competitions regularly, Some of the innovative product developed by students are Portable Biodiesel Plant (Prototype Developed by the team of S.Blessings Raja Devadoss, R.Sameeth Raj, V.Saravanan and R.Vijay Kumar), Aqua Monitoring System (Prototype Developed by the team of P.Sravan, K.Sravanth Kumar, S.Bagavathi, T.S.NandaKumar) and Low Noise Muffler (Product Developed by the team of P.Nitish, B. Perumal Adhi Jagannatha, V. Prathish).
