Youth Red Cross, KARE organized an awareness programme against consumption of alcohol, drunken driving and use of drugs on 16.09.2023 at Dr. K.S. Krishnan Auditorium. The Director Student Affairs Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj gave a welcome speech. The Vice President Dr. S. Shasi Anand gave the key note address. The Registrar Dr. V. Vasudevan presided over the function. The special guest, Virudhunagar District Collector Dr. V. P. Jayaseelan, IAS inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. During his speech, he said that the students should not use harmful drugs which will lead them to disastrous end. He congratulated the students who won the competitions by giving certificates and medals. The faculty members and students participated in the function. Virudhunagar District Assistant Commissioner (Excise) M. Amirthalingam delivered the vote of thanks. The faculty co-ordinators Dr. S. Kavitha and Dr. G. Kalusuraman made all the arrangements.
In a spirited initiative aimed at making a difference in their community, the Youth Red Cross (YRC) club successfully organized yet another blood donation camp on December 16, 2023. Held at the Kalasalingam Medical College and Hospital, this event exhibited the benevolence and solidarity of young adults who stepped forward to save lives through the noble act of donating blood. Shielded by the unwavering support of the professional staff, this event demonstrated the power of collaboration,
The camp, meticulously organized at Kalasalingam Medical College and hospital, not only provided a secure environment but also offered easy accessibility for participants. To ensure a smooth operation, the camp received professional support from Rajapalayam Government hospital, who played a pivotal role in overseeing the collection and handling of donated blood. The camp was initiated by the Vice president sir, Vice Chancellor sir, Registrar sir and Director Students Affairs. Nearly 166 students were participated and donated the blood. the camp was well organized by Dr. G. Kalusuraman, Faculty coordinator and Students members of YRC.
“Youth Red Cross” on behalf of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, to raise awareness for cancer, organized an awareness rally in watrap on Feb 3, 2024. The students walked around 2 kms of distance to deliver a strong message on how cancer can be treated and cured, especially when diagnosed early & cancer diagnosis is no longer an absolute death sentence. The participants carried placards with the messages for cancer awareness in this rally around 350+ students were participated. The event was organized by YRC club Coordinator Dr. G. Kalusuraman.
On 03-08-2024, the Youth Red Cross (YRC) organized a blood donation camp successfully at Kalasalingam Medical College & Hospital, Kalaslingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE). The camp was conducted in collaboration with Rajapalayam & Aruppukkottai Government Hospitals. 250 student volunteers donated their blood to save humanity. Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj, Director – Student Affairs congratulated the blood donorts. The event was organized by the University YRC Co-ordinator Dr. G. Kalusuraman.
Youth Red Cross (YRC), KARE conducted an awareness rally called ‘YaRaCs 2k24’ – ‘Action Against Suicide” at Watrap on 28th September, 2024. The rally was aimed to raise awareness about suicide prevention and focus on mental health. YRC members were actively participated in the rally, marking a significant contribution to the cause. The student participation was overwhelming, with many marching in solidarity. Dr. G. Kalusuraman, YRC Co-ordinator has made all the arrangements.
Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of KARE, on the occasion of Children’s Day, conducted "Practical demonstartion on fire safety measures" at Linga Global School. The event aimed to educate students on the importance of fire safety and emergency preparedness. With guidance from the Fire Safety Department, our young participants learned essential life-saving skills, equipping them to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies. Throughout the event, students actively participated in demonstrations, learned valuable fire prevention tips, and gained a deeper understanding of how to protect themselves and others in emergency situations. The drill not only empowered our young participants with knowledge but also instilled a strong sense of responsibility toward safety, reflecting YRC’s commitment to creating a safer community. Dr. G. Youth Red Cross (YRC), Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE), proudly hosted their Annual Cultural Fest, YuReCa 2k25: Radiance Beyond Sight. This vibrant event celebrated World Braille Day and embodied the values of empowerment, inclusivity, and joy. The event was presided over by the University’s Vice President, Dr. S. Shasi Anand. The Director (Student Affairs), Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj, extended a warm welcome to the gathering.
The Fest was divided into two sessions: Morning Session: The morning session was graced by the presence of Mr. S. Gokul, IAS, Sub Collector of Perambalur. He delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing, “Braille training books are scarce and need to be made more accessible. Differently-abled individuals should not be viewed through a medical lens but treated as equals. Students should dream big for the betterment of society. Blood runs red in all of us, and individuals with disabilities can achieve remarkable feats globally.” He also shared his personal journey as a visually impaired individual who succeeded in clearing the IAS examination, serving as a testament to the potential of the differently-abled.
Dr. K. Karthigadevi, HOD, SHIP, provided sign language interpretation for the speech. The owners of ThankYou Bakery, who are visually impaired achievers, truly embodied the spirit of resilience and empowerment. The event was attended by faculty members, B.Tech. students, and specially-abled students, including those who are speech and hearing impaired.
Afternoon Session: The afternoon session was a celebration of fun and entertainment, featuring an exciting audio carnival and light show. The atmosphere was electrified by a celebrity visit from Ms. Athulya Ravi, whose charm and charisma delighted the audience, followed by a vibrant performance by DJ Soumya, who had everyone grooving to her beats.
The day was filled with limitless joy and inspiration, bringing together participants from all walks of life to revel in the spirit of unity and celebration. YuReCa’25 highlighted the spirit of inclusivity and showcased the extraordinary abilities of individuals, making it a celebration of resilience, empowerment, and talent.

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) Club of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp in association with Government Hospital, Rajapalayam on 20 th February 2025 (Thursday) from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Kalasalingam Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), Krishnankoil. A large number of enthusiastic students stepped forward to donate blood, demonstrating their compassion and commitment to serving society. Each donor received a Blood Donor Certificate issued by the Government in recognition of their life-saving contribution. Special thanks to Dr. G. Kalusuraman for meticulously organizing the event and ensuring its smooth execution.
The Youth Red Cross (YRC), KARE organized an environmental awareness initiative, "Clean Drive at Vagamon & Varkala," on 22 nd and 23 rd March 2025 to promote sustainability, environmental conservation, and responsible waste management. Students actively participated in cleaning activities, waste segregation, and awareness campaigns, educating local communities and tourists on the harmful effects of pollution and littering. This initiative contributed to multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health & Well-being (SDG 3), Clean Water & Sanitation (SDG 6), Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), Life Below Water (SDG 14), and Life on Land (SDG 15). By fostering responsible tourism and environmental stewardship, this initiative encouraged students to take meaningful action for a cleaner, healthier planet.
