The Centre of Sustainable Development’s SDG 8 Team organized a one day medical camp for KARE Transport Team of drivers, conductors and maintenance staff members on 05.02.2025 at Kalasalingam Hospital premises. The camp was flagged off with a welcoming gathering by SDG team in charge and HR Dr.S.Kundavai following a briefing about SDG by CSD Director & Dty Director Dr.P.Deepalakshmi and Dr.L.Muthulakshmi. The Medical Director Dr.James Pandian highlighted the importance of the health and well being of all and Chancellor Dr.K.Sridharan rendered the special address with the real time health hazards and accident happenings recorded in our society and insisted to be lead a healthy life and eating habits and the role of drivers and conductors while working in an educational institution. Finally the faculty Mrs.ThangasubbulaKshmi of Kalasalingam College of Nursing co-ordinated a role play on health education by nursing students emphasising to all to be health conscious. The Director, Transport and Maintenance – Dr.M.Sivasubramanian finally rendered a vote of thanks to the organizing team and management for this initiative. The camp highlights included preliminary screening with blood sugar level check, blood pressure check, eye test (refractive error check), weight measurement and overall medical checkup free of cost. The medical camp was successfully conducted for the wellbeing of the transport team and the transport employees expressed that it was very useful.

The Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) of Kalaslingam Academy of Research & Education (KARE) allocated SDG : 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth to Dr. A. Alavudeen and Dr. S. Kundhavai and further to that an understanding about Decent work was necessary and hence a webinar on same with resource person – Dr.Ernesto Noronha (Organizational Behaviour Area), from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad for the Leadership Team of KARE was initiated. The Deans, Directors, HoDs and the other SDG Team members effectively participated as per the schedule sent through the circular. Dr.S.Kundhavai had welcomed all ( on behalf of the CSD oficials- Dr.P.Deepalakshmi -Director AR office , Dr.L.Muthuulakshmi – Deputy Director AR ) and the session was handed over to the resource person.

The Yuva Tourism Club, KARE organized a National Tourism Day program at Government Higher Secondary School, Pappayanaickerpatti, on January 12, 2024. Events like, essay writing and drawing competition were conducted to raise awareness about tourism among the students. Participants exhibited impressive understanding and creativity. Winners received certificates and prizes, contributing to fostering a sense of curiosity and appreciation for diverse cultures. The event successfully achieved its goal of promoting responsible tourism and left a lasting impact on participants and organizers alike.
