The school provides students technical expertise and a broad education so that they can meet the challenges of feeding the world, improving health, protecting the environment, growing our economy, and enriching youth. Abilities to think creatively and critically solving problems, making decisions, and communicating effectively are developed. The faculty of the school possess doctoral qualifications and render quality education. Extensive laboratory infrastructure is available in KARE which is shared by the Kalasalingam School of Agriculture and Horticulture too. Exclusive and well-equipped laboratories to cater to the need of the above specific program have also been created and are growing in leaps and bounds. Large 300 acres of agricultural farms both garden land and wet land and 60 acres of orchards are available to train the students in the real field giving them a practical experience and hands-on training. Engineering workshops and laboratories are available with state-of-art equipment. Apart from the regular curriculum, the prospective students have a structured set of non-credit courses which are not included for the final score of the course but mandatory to the degree’s completion. Industrial training, rural work experiences, social service, NCC, sports, language courses, soft skills, etc are some of the highlights they can avail in this segment.

The B.Sc., (Hons.) Agriculture and The B.Sc., (Hons.) Horticulture is planned to prepare students in sciences such as Crop management, Crop improvement, Crop protection, Natural resource management, Agricultural economics and Extension. Agronomy, Plant protection, Soil science, Plant breeding, Agricultural economics, etc.. The curriculum is built on excellent foundation of basic prerequisites and moulds the student into a full-fledged agricultural professional at the end of the course tenure. Excellent career opportunities do exist for these graduates in private and governmental firms to work as agricultural and horticultural officers, specialist officers (agriculture and horticulture) in banks, farm managers, plant breeders, seed quality inspectors, plant protection experts, economic/marketing advisors/forecasters, agri-horti entrepreneur. and the like.
The above program provides ample opportunity for the graduates to enter academics and research nationally / globally after continuing higher studies in the areas of their interest. The degrees offer employment not only in the subject oriented positions, but also in sectors such as banks and civil services.
The students managed to develop 10 innovative products in 5 years. They have also got 23 patents and 55 publications under their name. The students have done wonders in the field of extracurricular
activities apart from academics. The students took part in many National and International Events” and bagged lots of medals. The students of the school of automotive and mechanical
engineering are offered a One Credit Course from the Industry and International Professors. The department invites resource persons from industries and abroad to handle one-credit
course in order to raise awareness and bring industrial skills to our students (15hours).
