Overview

The B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture degree programme is designed to train students for careers in science such as Crop management, Crop improvement, Crop protection, Natural resource management, Agricultural economics and Extension. The programme is based on an outstanding basis of fundamental prerequisites and moulds the student into a full-fledged Agricultural Professional at the completion of the course tenure. These graduates have excellent career prospects in the private and government sectors as agricultural officers, specialist officers (agriculture) in banks, farm manager, plant breeders, seed quality inspectors, plant protection experts, economic/marketing advisors, forecasters, agri-entrepreneur. The aforementioned programme offers enough opportunities for graduates to pursue academia and to study on a national/global scale after completing higher education in their fields of interest. The degree has job opportunities not only in subject-related roles but also administrator roles in banks and civil services.

Why B.Sc.(Hons.)-Agriculture?

This programme aims to train and build agricultural graduates who will be able to face the demands of encouraging sustainable agricultural development on a national and global scale, to build a knowledge base, specifically in agricultural sciences and allied disciplines, that will allow this vision to become a reality, especially in dryland pockets of India. The development and upgrading of the programme, which leads to a professional degree in agriculture to make them capable of meeting the needs of the farmers. Most importantly, the programme aims to promote the infrastructures for doing research in the important agricultural disciplines.

4. Kalasalingam University has been offered grants from time to time funded by different prestigious departments working in the field of Science & Technology. We have also received a Grant amount of Rs.20,41,600 from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of India, New Delhi, for the project titled “Scientometric Assessment of Research Trends in Precision Agriculture: Global and Indian Perspectives”, Received a grant amount of Rs.77,35,000 from TNSCST, Tamil Nadu, for the project titled “Poly House and Training” and Received a grant amount of 2.6 Crores from DST-STI HUB New-Delhi for the project titled Establishment of STI HUB for production of eco-friendly and economical products to improve the socio-economic status of SC population of Srivilliputtur Block.

5. Kalasalingam School Of Agriculture & Horticulture signed a MoU with Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai on polythene management by Consortia Microbes during 2019-20.

6. We have hosted numerous webinars from time to time for our students. For eg:- Webinar on “Get ready for ICAR all India entrance examination for pursuing PG” was organized on 29th June 2020 and the speakers, Mr. G.K. Dinesh, IARI, New Delhi, Dr. T. Pandiaraj, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, UP, Ms. T. Monisha, Vishva-Bharati University, West Bengal, Dr. Arun, KARE, Mr. Narendran, TN were invited to deliver expert lectures.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • A Pass in Higher Secondary(+2 / Intermediate) of State Board, CBSE, any other Board of Education recognized by State and Central Government with an aggregate of 50% and above in Mathematics,Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Physics, Chemistry, Biology with a fourth (elective) subject viz., Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Home Science./ Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology
  • Lateral Entry :For Lateral Entry programs, Diploma course in the relevant field of specialization with an average 60% marks in pre-final and final semester is a must.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Selection will be done on the basis of Kalasalingam Common Entrance Examination and merit considering 10+2 marks.

  • Admission is through counselling based on the marks obtained in Kalasalingam Common Entrance Examination (KCEE).

  • Registration details will be sent to your registered Mobile Number and Email ID.
  • Step 2: Filling Online Application Form
  • Login with your registration details sent to your Email / Mobile number.
  • Provide all relevant details carefully, before submission.
  • Step 3: Photo and Signature Upload
  • Photograph Image: A Recent Passport Size Photograph ( in .jpg format with Maximum size 80 KB).
  • Signature Image: Size should be between 10KB to 200 KB with the dimension of 3.5 CM X 1.5 CM.
  • **For Photograph, the background must be plain white or off-white. The Head must be directly facing the camera with your full face in view. No hats or head coverings, unless you wear them daily for religious purposes. Your full face must be visible and your head covering cannot cast shadows on your face.
  • Step 4: Mode Of Payment
  • Online Mode through Netbanking / Credit / Debit card/UPI. Application Cost (Rs: 600) – for General Candidates.
  • NRI students – USD 35 can pay through online.
