Under these MoUs Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education students can spend one or two semesters (Semester Abroad Programme) in the selected partner Universities to get the international exposure. The students undergoing this Semester Abroad Programme has to pay the regular tuition fees to Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education only Travel and living expenditures during their stay at foreign University have to be taken care by the students. There are chances to avail the exchange student scholarships given by the respective countries. In the previous semesters the following students have under gone semester abroad programmes in various foreign Universities.

Welcome to Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education

Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) formerly Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering was established in 1984 by Kalvivallal Thiru T. Kalasalingam, Founder Chairman who was a freedom fighter and Philanthropist. Kalasalingam is located at the pristine foothills of scenic Western Ghats of southern Tamilnadu. The college obtained Deemed to be University status in 2006. The Institution has been serving the society for thirty seven long years and it caters to the needs of the students from all walks of the society. Kalasalingam offers UG programmes, PG programmes and Ph.D programmes in various disciplines of Engineering, Science, Technology and Humanities. Kalasalingam is the only institution in India to simultaneously get accredited by ABET(an International non-profit and non-governmental agency, USA) for 11 programmes. The Institution has been re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade with a CGPA of 3.11. Six UG programmes have been accredited by the NBA under the Tier-1 category of Washington accord. Most of our programmes are offered in collaborations with leading industries like TCS, IBM, Siemens, Nano chip etc and industries like Robert Bosch , Siemens ,IBM, Tessolve, National Instrument, Intel, BMW, Ford, Nissan have sponsored the laboratories in our campus. Centres established with national importance in our institute are the Centre for Advanced research in discrete mathematics with the support of the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. Of India (2007). TIFAC sponsored Network engineering centre of excellence, National Cyber Defense research centre, Research institution controlled by National Cyber Safety and Security Standards – An autonomous body, Cyber Forensics. About 220 faculty members are with Ph.D qualifications and International research centre established (some major equipment -Scanning Electron Microscope EVO18 (CARL ZEISS),Energy Dispersive X-ray-Spectrometer Quantax 200 with X Flash® 6130,X – ray diffractometer D8 Advance ECO, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer IR Tracer 100, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer AA 7000) by the institute plays a vital role in promoting the research culture among the faculty members and students in the campus which resulted more than 40 sponsored research projects worth of 14.5 Crore are ongoing from the Funding agencies such as DST, ICMR, DRDO, MSME, ATAL and four international research projects in collaboration with Poland, Norway, Malaysia and Thailand. and more than 2500 research findings of our faculty members and students are published in the Scopus indexed journals. Our curriculum is well framed with a flexible system and by integrating online courses, societal projects, industry exposures and international exposures as the components. Separate Multi-Storied hostels for girls and boys with all the facilities to provide accommodation to thousands of students. The institution has spent an exorbitant sum to create a world class swimming pool and indoor auditorium for sports and fitness. Furthermore Kalasalingam gives utmost importance to Intra-mural and Extra mural activities for the holistic development of the students.

Hostel Facilities

One of the key contributors to an intensive learning experience is living in campus. Kalasalingam has a residential facility on campus for the students. A well-furnished and artistically designed hostels with separate buildings for boys and girls has been constructed with a view to provide best possible facilities to the students. All the Hostels are located inside the same campus. A separate international hostel is also available. Students can opt for rooms that offer Air Conditioned single or double occupancy rooms with Attached bath rooms as per student’s own need.

The rooms are bright, spacious, comfortable, clean and airy with necessary accessories. All hostels are with WiFi internet access. Hostel has a facility like RO water, water cooler, a common room with TV, 24 hrs power backup, which creates a homely atmosphere.

The hostel also has a general store, gymnasium and beauty parlor for the girls and boys.

We are facilitating the students by offering exclusive Laundry & dry-cleans Services in line with international standards.

Food @ Kalasalingam

Both Veg and Non Veg are served. The menu is prepared by the students and food in the hostels is catered by Sodexo, a multinational organization, with expertise in serving a wide variety of national and international cuisines.

Morning – Coffee/Tea, Healthy Biscuits, Wheat Marie Biscuits, Breakfast – Cinnamon Rolls, Toasted Bread+Butter+Jam, Croissants, Danish pastry, Cornflakes, Hot Milk, Fruits (Whole, Fruit Salad, Cuts Fruits) Coffee.

Lunch – Garden fresh Salad, Sprout Salad, Beans Salad, Tossed Salad, French Bean Salad, Kachumber Salad, Herb Rice, Veg / Chicken Stew, Oven Roast vegetables, Oven Chicken, Curd / Yogurt.

Evening Snacks – Flavoured Cold Milk, Short Eats / Sandwich
