ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) formerly Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering was established in 1984 by the pioneering KalasalingamAnandamAmmal Charities. Located at the pristine foothills of scenic Western Ghats, the college obtained the Deemed to be University status in 2006. The Institution has been serving the society for thirty four long years and it caters to the needs of the students from all walks of the society. KARE offers UG programmes, PG programmes and Ph.D programmes. It is the first Institution in India to introduce a special B.Techprogramme in engineering for the differently able (speech and hearing impaired) students. The Institution has been re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade with a CGPA of 3.11 in 2015. Three UG programmes have been accredited by NBA under Tier-1. The Institution continues to do indefatigable work in getting projects and research centers. It has received DST funding to establish the National Center for Advance Research in Discrete Mathematics. KARE has got the state of the art IRC with splendid high end instruments for advanced research in material sciences and life sciences. Multistoried separate hostels with plenty of facilities provide accommodation to thousands of students. The institution has spent exorbitant sum to create a world class swimming pool and indoor auditorium for sports. Furthermore KARE gives utmost importance to Intra-mural and Extra mural activities for the holistic development of the students.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, being one of the oldest departments of the institute, provides its students effective teaching-learning process and state-of-the-art laboratories. The department offers B.Tech degree programme in Mechanical Engineering along with various PG Programmes. The curriculum is highly demanding and attracts exceptionally meritorious students from all parts of the country. The department is constantly striving to attain excellence in education, teaching, academic and industry oriented research as well as consultancy work with service to the society. The department has established state of the art laboratories namely Materials Processing Laboratory, Advanced Machining & Measurement Laboratory and Machine Dynamics & Condition Monitoring Laboratory under Level 1 of the DST-FIST program (Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Universities & Higher Educational Institutions). The department has been equipped with the research centers such as Centre for Composite Materials and Centre for Advanced Thermal Studies. The department is having funded research projects in the areas of optimization studies, composite materials, machining studies, supersonic flow, heat transfer and CO2 sequestration. The department has modern laboratories and workshop facilities with ultra-modern sophisticated equipment to carry out research in all areas related to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. The department also welcomes students from other departments of the institute as a gesture of support to their time-to-time academic and research needs. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the department are well placed in leading industries as well as in the higher research level institutions of international recognition. The department has active and vibrant students’ chapters of major professional bodies such as Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and National Safety Council (NSC) India. Here they get a world class platform for organizing, participating and developing engineering dreams. The department has also a dynamic coordinating section dedicated for student’s intellectual property rights and patents.

ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Centre for Composites Materials was established in the year 2009 as an interdisciplinary center for carrying out teaching, research, design and development and consultancy in the field of composite materials and their applications. The center has dedicated laboratories for composite materials processing, materials testing, composite machining and deposition. The center is taking effort to produce eco-friendly high performance materials. This research center is partially funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST-New Delhi). In addition Bi-lateral Indo-Brazil project also going on in collaboration with the center.


ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR ADVANCED MACHINING

The center for advanced machining is sponsored by DST-FIST, DAE-BRNS AND MOEF. It is equipped with CNC turning Centre, Abrasive Water Jet Machine, Electrical Discharge Machine and Erosion Test Rig. The center also has surface roughness tester, lathe tool and drill tool dynamometer, online tool wear monitoring system and thermal image analyzer. The center carries out teaching, research, design and development and consultancy in the field of manufacturing and their applications.


OBJECTIVE OF THE CONFERENCE

ICSIMMA2024 is aimed at providing a premier forum at international level to present and discuss new ideas, novel results, grand challenges and major technical trends in the field of manufacturing engineering, industrial automation and materials science. This conference will bring educators, researchers, professionals, industrial experts and learners of the field together under a common roof and will address open issues in all aspects of mechanical, industrial and materials engineering. Authors are invited to submit original and unpolished recent articles in the following area not limited to:

PAPER SUBMISSION & PUBLICATIONS

The paper must be original and should not be previously submitted, published or under consideration elsewhere. Abstract has to be submitted through email (icsimma2024@gmail.com) indicating the Theme (and sub theme if possible). All communications will be sent through email and the accepted papers will be considered for presentations. Presented papers will be recommended to submit in the Scopus Indexed Special Issues.
