Overview

Established in the year 2010, KALASALINGAM’s Center for speech and hearing impairment is the one and only Institute in Tamil Nadu’s southern region. It believes in providing quality education in the field of B.Ed. Special Education in Hearing Impairment (SHIP). The primary goal of the course is to train people to care for children with hearing impairments and other disabilities in the classroom. To be extra compassionate and understanding towards the children of special needs.

Academic

The Department of B. Ed special education purely supports providing special teachers to serve the Hearing impaired school children.

The student’s teachers prepared to handle sign language to communicate with hearing-impaired students in their classrooms.

The student’s teachers trained to provide speech correction to support the oral communication of the hearing impaired students in their classrooms.

The student teachers getting sufficient observation and teaching practice from the hearing impairment school, Mentally Retarded School and regular school.

The student teachers are able to handle assessment of various disabilities and are familiar with the assistive technology for people with differently-abled.

School counsellors/ therapists are provided for children with hearing impairment and other disabilities.

Special and general school teaching is provided at Kalasalingam University.

  • Applicants must have passed any UG degree examination in the 10+2+3 stream or 11+1+3; Applicants who have direct UG Degree without +2 qualification/post-graduate degree without a UG degree are not eligible.

  • The medium of instruction for B.Ed Special Education is English.
  • For Commerce and Economics, PG is essential.

  • Login with your registration details sent to your Email / Mobile number.
  • Provide all relevant details carefully, before submission.
  • Step 3: Photo and Signature Upload
  • Photograph Image: A Recent Passport Size Photograph ( in .jpg format with Maximum size 80 KB).
  • Signature Image: Size should be between 10KB to 200 KB with the dimension of 3.5 CM X 1.5 CM.
  • **For Photograph, the background must be plain white or off-white. The Head must be directly facing the camera with your full face in view. No hats or head coverings, unless you wear them daily for religious purposes. Your full face must be visible and your head covering cannot cast shadows on your face.

After the completion of the B.Ed-SHIP programme, students will be able to:

PO1: Acquire information and skills in human development, contemporary Indian education, pedagogy in different school subjects, and learning evaluation.

PO2: Learn about the nature and educational needs of children with disabilities, as well as a few basic disabilities.

PO3: Develop conceptual knowledge of educational provisions as well as skills for working with children with a variety of disabilities in special and inclusive settings.

PO4: Identifying children’s special needs and instilling trust in them to understand their potential and abilities in order to achieve national development goals with self-respect, integrity, and equality.

PO5: Enhance knowledge and skills for professional development.
