Tamil Mandram

Tamil Mandram of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education is a literary as well as cultural club established to provide a platform to share students’ passion for Tamil language,culture and heritage through wide spectrum of multi dimensional activities.The activities of the clubs includes literary events like guest lectures by eminent writers and popular orators, events for school children, creative writing competitions for Institution students, and events promoting ancient Tamil Martial arts like silambattam.Members of the club have been proving themselves across the state not only by winning writing and oratory competitions but also by participating in Television competitions and Talk shows. Tamil Mandram plans to release an annual magazine, a short film work shop and a series of competitions for Tamil loving Technocrats.

MILIR 2023

Tamil Mandram has celebrated its 14 th year Anniversary in the name of Milir'2023 on
19.08.2023 at Administrative Block Seminar Hall by 10.30 AM. Dr. L. Muthulakshmi, Faculty
Advisor of Tamil Mandram, welcomed the dignitaries on and off the stage. Dr. A. Samson
Nesaraj, Director Students Affairs, delivered a Presidential address. Ms. RJ. Naga, Radio City,
Madurai, delivered a special address about Tamil language and heritage, how to be a RJ and
Radio jobs. Around 550 students were participated in this event. The programme came to a close
with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. S. Azhagumeera, Student President of Tamil Mandram.
Dr. C. Sangeetha, Coordinator of Tamil Mandram organized the event.


Aram 2K23

To commemorate the Teachers Day, Tamil Mandram organized a special event on the title, ‘ARAM 2K23’ on 16 th September, 2023 at Dr. V. Vasudevan Seminar Hall. During the programme, events like
Best Teacher, Poetry, Memes, As you like it and Book Review were conducted. More than 100 students
were participated. This programme was co-ordinated by Dr. T. Dhiliphan Rajkumar, Assistant Professor-
CSE & Programme Officer of Tamil Mandram.


PAAVAI VIZHA & PONGAL VIZHA

Tamil Mandram celebrated PAAVAI VIZHA and PONGAL VIZHA on 12.01.2024 at Dr. K. S. Krishnan Auditorium. Dr. C. Sangeetha, Coordinator of Tamil Mandram welcomed the dignitaries during the inaugural function. Dr. S. Narayanan, Vice Chancellor delivered a special address about Poet Andal, Tamil culture and Tamil tradition. Dr. V. Vasudevan, Registrar delivered a felicitation address. Ms. S. Azhagu Meera, Student Co-ordinator gave the vote of thanks. In this occasion, events like, Thiruppavai Oppuvithal, Uriadi, Kabbadi, Balloon Breaking, Pongal Preparation, Senthamizh Selvan and Senthamizh selvi were conducted for the students. Around 300 students were participated in this event.


Tamil Mandram – International Conference (11-12-2023)

Tamil Mandram celebrated Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s birth anniversary and organized an International Seminar titled, ‘Thisai Kattum Bharathi’ on 11.12.2023 at Dr.V.Vasudevan Seminar Hall. Dr. C. Sangeetha, Coordinator of Tamil Mandram welcomed the dignitaries. Dr. Ithayageetham Ramanujam, Secretary, All India writers Association, Chennai delivered a keynote address. Dr. K. Sridharan, Chancellor delivered the presidential address and honored the young researchers. Ilam Bharathi and Maha Kavi awards were distributed to the students and faculty members. Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj, Director (Student Affairs) received the Bharathi Sudar Award. Dr. Malini Anantha Krishnan @ Pachaivathi, Founder, Akila Ulaga Tamil Muzhakka Kalam, Australia delivered a special Address about Tamil language and its heritage. Writter Indiraneelan Suresh, London, UK delivered a talk about Mahakavi Bharathi’s poems. Poet Kalyan Sridhar, Nigeria, delivered a speech about the life of Tamil people in Nigeria. In this occasion, Kaviyarangam was conducted for the students. Around 250 students were participated in this event.

Mupperum Vizha – 2024 on 21st September, 2024

Tamil Mandram, has organized ‘Mupperum Vizha – 2024 (Tamil Mandram 15th year
inauguration, Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s Memorial day and Gandhi Jeyanthi) on 21st September, 2024 at Dr. K. S. Krishnan Auditorium. The programme was inaugurated by Honourable
Chancellor Dr. K. Sridharan. Tamil Mandram President Ms. Subashri shared the welcome
address. Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj, Director (Student Affairs) shared the felicitation address.
Film Director Mr. A. R. Mohan and Tamil Speaker Ms. M. Bousiya Banu were participated in
the event as chief guests. A book titled ைக விர ேசைக (written by the faculty member Mr. Vimal Subramanian) was released by the Honourable Chancellor. Founder Chairman ‘Kalvi
Vallal’ Mr. T. Kalasalingam’s life story was displayed as a video during the event. Cultural
events of the students along-with the live concert by Band Reboot were also conducted. More
than 700 students witnessed the programme. Dr. C. Sangeetha, Faculty Co-ordinator, Tamil
Mandram has made all the arrangements.


Teachers’ day and Virtue Award 2024 celebration

Tamil Mandram of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (Deemed to be
University) in association with ACIC – Kalasalingam Innovation Foundation has conducted
Teachers’ day and Virtue Award 2024 celebrations on 05 th September, 2024 in the
Administrative Block Seminar Hall. Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj, Director (Student Affairs) gave
the welcome address. Dr. S. Narayanan, Vice Chancellor shared the presidential address. The
faculty members who contributed their articles on the title ‘Teacher as a role model for the
students’ (In English) or ஆசிரியர் பணியே அறப்பணி (In Tamil) were recognized during the
meeting. The following faculty members received ‘Virtue Award 2024’ for their outstanding
performance in the essay writing competition.

கரிசல் இலக்கிய அறிமுக விழா (09th, December, 2024)

The Tamil Mandram at Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education
(KARE) had the honor of organizing the ‘கரிசல் இலக்கிய அறிமுக விழா’ on 9th
December 2024, in collaboration with the District Collectorate, Virudhunagar. The
event, held in the Library Hall, was a platform to celebrate and explore the literary
and cultural richness of the கரிசல் நிலம் (Karisal Land).
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. C. Sangeetha, Club
Coordinator of Tamil Mandram, who set the tone for a day filled with inspiring
discussions and cultural pride.
Dr. K. Karthigadevi, Head of the Department of Special Education in Hearing
Impairment, enriched the gathering with her engaging presentation on her literary
writings about the Karisal Land, showcasing its unique heritage and ecological
significance.
We were privileged to have two esteemed literary figures as our Chief Guests:

  • Mr. P. Ramaiah, President of தமிழ்நாடு கலை இலக்கிய பெருமன்றம்,
    Rajapalayam Region.
  • Mr. D. Kanmani Rasa, State Vice President of தமிழ்நாடு கலை இலக்கிய
    பெருமன்றம்.

Both dignitaries passionately encouraged students to engage deeply with Tamil
literature and invited them to participate in the upcoming இரண்டாவது கரிசல்
இலக்கிய திரு விழா, scheduled to be held at சிவகாசி மாஸ்டர் பிரிண்டர்ஸ் அரங்கம்
on 14th and 15th December 2024.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. A. Samson
Nesaraj, Director of Student Affairs, who applauded the efforts of the Tamil
Mandram students for their exceptional arrangements and contributions.
Through this event, we proudly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) 4 and 11:

  1. SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting cultural and literary education.
  2. SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by fostering a deeper connection with our cultural roots.

International Seminar Honoring Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s Legacy on 10thDecember 2024

On 10th December 2024, the Tamil Mandram of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and
Education (KARE), in collaboration with the All India Tamil Writers Association, hosted an
International Seminar on the theme "Direction Shown by Bharathi" (திசைகாட்டும் பாரதி).
This significant event celebrated the 143 rd birth anniversary of Mahakavi Bharathiyar, a
luminary of Tamil literature and a visionary social reformer.

The seminar began with a warm welcome by Dr. C. Sangeetha, Tamil Mandram Coordinator.
Dr. Ithayaageetham Ramanujam, General Secretary of the All India Tamil Writers
Association, delivered an inspiring keynote address, urging students to embrace and promote
Tamil culture in the spirit of Bharathiyar’s legacy. Chancellor Dr. K. Sridharan recited
Bharathiyar’s poetry and encouraged students to embody the poet’s ideals in their lives.

The All India Tamil Writers Association honored Chancellor Dr. K. Sridharan with the
prestigious Bharathi Sudar Award (பாரதி சுடர் விருது) in recognition of his contributions to
Tamil literature, culture, and education. Special guests, Dr. Gayathri Ilayaraja, a
distinguished newsreader from the United States, and Mr. Rajaguru Karpalan, Editor of
‘Tamil Charal’ magazine from Africa, shared valuable insights on Bharathiyar’s global
influence.

The Chancellor distributed certificates to Tamil scholars, recognizing their contributions to
Tamil literature and culture. The event saw enthusiastic participation from scholars, writers,
poets, students, and faculty members, making it a memorable celebration of Bharathiyar’s
enduring vision.

Organized seamlessly by Dr. C. Sangeetha, Mr. K. Prabhakar, and Tamil scholars Dr.
Ramakurunathan, Dr. Periyannan, and Dr. Ramanujam, the seminar aligned with the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 11:
Sustainable Communities), emphasizing education and cultural heritage as pillars of
sustainable progress.

This international seminar highlighted Bharathiyar’s timeless relevance and his message of
equality, empowerment, and cultural pride, inspiring all attendees to contribute to building a
more inclusive and progressive society.

Thamizhi 2k25 by Tamil Mandram (29th March, 2025)

The Tamil Mandram of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) organized an
event titled “THAMIZHI-2K25 (தமிழி – 2025)” on 29th March 2025 at the KARE campus. This
vibrant celebration showcased an impressive Historical, Archaeological, and Virtual Reality (VR)
exhibition alongside a student cultural festival. The exhibition was inaugurated at the Library Hall
by Dr. K. Sridharan, Honourable Chancellor, and Dr. Shasi Anand, Vice President, KARE. It
featured ancient coins, vessels, jewellery, and traditional idols used by former Indian kings, along
with a captivating VR experience titled ‘Kumari Kandam’ that reflected the lost Tamil culture of
Kanyakumari. The poetry and cultural festival, held at Dr. K. S. Krishnan Auditorium, began with
a welcome address by Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj, Director (Student Affairs). Dr. K. Sridharan
delivered a special address and released the University Anthem penned by Dr. C. Sangeetha, Club
Coordinator, Tamil Mandram. Dr. Shasi Anand encouraged students to preserve and follow Tamil
traditions. Mr. R. Boobalan, Secretary, Pollachi Literature Block, released a book titled
“உன்னால் மாய்ந்த இரவுகள்” written by student Yazhan, and alumnus Mr. S. R. Tharun
shared reflections on Tamil Mandram’s past and present. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.
L. Muthulakshmi, Programme Officer, Tamil Mandram. Afternoon sessions included cultural
performances by students. The entire event was beautifully coordinated by Dr. C. Sangeetha. The
programme aligned with Sustainable Development Goals SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11
(Sustainable Cities and Communities).
