The Photography Club of Kalasalingam University, founded in 2007, stands as a vibrant
community for photography enthusiasts within the Kalasalingam Academy of Research and
Education (KARE). Established to nurture and encourage budding photographers, the club
has witnessed remarkable growth over the years, boasting a membership of over 50 active
passionate individuals.
With a track record of hosting more than 20 successful events, the club has consistently
created opportunities for members to explore, learn, and showcase their skills. Signature
events like 'Wanderlust 2k25' – a two-day photo walk to Wayanad, and 'One Day
Journalist’24' – a one-day trip to Vagamon, highlight the club’s dedication to hands-on
learning and exploration. Annual events such as 'Nostalgia 2k24', 'Attain 2k24' (World
Photography Day), and 'Youthmania 2k23' have further enriched the community spirit.
The Photography Club's event calendar features a diverse range of activities including
photography workshops, photo walks, field trips, guest lectures, exhibitions, and contests.
Members actively participate in photography critiques, allowing them to enhance their
technical skills and artistic vision.
Through the years, the Photography Club has fostered a space where creativity meets
community, inspiring students to capture the world through their lenses while building lasting
memories and friendships.
World Photography Day was celebrated across KARE on August 19 2023 by KARE
Photography Club. Different Photography Competitions were conducted to encourage the
student photographers of KARE to capture and share meaningful moments and showcase
their creativity and vision through captivating images. Around 160 students from different
departments of the KARE campus participated in the events. Technical events such as
Themed portrait photography, Reflection photography, Photo film, Product Photography and
Non-technical events such as Treasure hunt and Photo puzzle were conducted.
Director of Student Affairs Dr. A Samson Nesaraj inaugurated the event. Faculty advisor Mr.
Amaljith N.K (AP/VISCOM) and Club President Ms. Agnes Prismitha (4th Year IT) presided
over the programme.
The event's success highlighted the enduring power of photography to inspire, connect, and
convey stories that resonate with people from all walks of life.
Photography Club of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (Deemed to be University) has conducted an event titled ‘Attain 2k24’, to commemorate the World Photography Day on 17th August 2024. Dr. A. Samson Nesaraj, Director (Student Affairs) inaugurated the event. During the celebration, technical events, such as, portrait photography, KARE in reel, photo manipulation and product photography long-with non-technical events, such as, games, treasure hunt and photo puzzle were conducted. The event drew an impressive crowd, with 263 students from various departments coming together to explore, learn, and celebrate the art of photography. Mr. N. K. Photograph Club of KARE co-ordinated ‘Thimirppu’ (Onam celebration of 2023) on 3 rd
September 2023. The event was a resounding success, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of
Kerala and fostering a sense of unity and joy among the students and faculty members of
KARE.
The program also included several fun activities and games inspired by Onam traditions,
including Tug-of-war, Bun catch, Lemon and spoon race, Musical chair, and the popular
Uriyadi. These activities encouraged active participation and camaraderie among both
students and faculty members.
The event's success can be attributed to the dedication and hard work of the organizing
committee and the active participation of attendees.
A One-day visit and photo walk to Karaikudi was conducted by the Photography Club of
Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education on 14 th October 2023 under the name
‘One Day Journalist 23’. Karaikudi is the heartland of Chettinad and a major place of heritage
tourism in Tamil Nadu. The primary objective of this visit was to provide club members with
an opportunity to practice their photography skills, explore their creativity, and foster a sense
of community within the club.
The visit comprised three faculty members of KARE and 57 students including 30 girls and
27 boys.The members visited Pillaiyarpatti Karpaka Vinayakar Temple, Kundrakudi Murugan
Temple, Attangudi Palace, and Chettinad Palace and explored the Chettinad and
Kanadukathan streets.
Throughout the day, club members had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of
photography activities, including capturing natural landscapes, architecture, portraits and
candid photography. The one-day visit conducted by the Photography club, KARE was a
tremendous success, achieving its primary objectives of skill enhancement and community
building. It improved photography skills and a deeper understanding of various techniques
and enhanced enthusiasm and passion for photography among club members.
On 28th September 2024, the Photography Club, KARE embarked on a thrilling one-day
photowalk to Vagamon, Kerala. The adventure began at 4 a.m. with an energizing bus ride,
complete with music to set the mood. After a brief tea break en route, we entered Kerala by 8
a.m., greeted by cool breezes and misty weather. Following a hearty Kerala-style breakfast,
we visited the serene tea plantations, capturing the lush beauty of the region. By 11 a.m., the
teams switched to jeeps for a safari through Vagamon’s stunning meadows, waterfalls, and
misty landscapes—offering mesmerizing photo opportunities at every turn.
A delightful lunch at Vagamon Café recharged the participants for the day’s highlight—the
pine forests, where the fog created an enchanting ambiance for our brief but memorable stop.
As dusk settled, all gathered for a cozy campfire at 7 p.m., enjoying marshmallows, fun
games, and laughter. This trip was not just a visual treat but a bonding experience, filled with
cherished moments of joy, camaraderie, and lasting memories. Mr. N.K. Amaljith, Faculty

The Photography Club of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) embarked on an unforgettable photowalk to Wayanad on March 1-2, 2025, immersing
themselves in a perfect blend of adventure, history, and nature. From soaring through the skies on an exhilarating zip-lining experience at Karapuzha Dam, feeling the rush of
adrenaline while gliding over the serene waters, to stepping back in time at the ancient Edakkal Caves, where prehistoric petroglyphs whisper tales of early human civilization,
every moment was a story waiting to be captured. The journey reached new heights—both literally and figuratively—as they walked above the clouds on the 900 Kandi Glass Bridge,
soaking in breathtaking panoramic views of the lush Wayanad forests beneath their feet. This adventure was more than just a visual spectacle; it was a deep dive into the wonders of nature
and history, making every captured frame a cherished memory.
