Overview

The Five Year Integrated Law Courses of Five Years duration comprises of 5 Academic Years commencing from the month of July each year. Each academic year is divided into two semesters consisting of 90 working days. No split degree will be issued if student exits in the midst of the 5 year integrated course.

The legal education at Kalasalingam will prepare legal professionals who will play a decisive and critical leadership role in meeting various challenges. They shall do so not only as advocates practicing in courts, but also as judges, policy makers, public officials and civil society activists as well as corporate legal consultants in the private sector. Kalasalingam’s legal education also prepares capable professionals to meet the emerging challenges of working in globalized knowledge economy, in which the organization of law and legal practice are undergoing a paradigm shift.

The University has more than 60% of faculty members with PhDs and maximum of them with PDF experience.

Engagement with Society

The students are mandated to address the issues of society either by interacting with the community, visit the community and stay with the community, or by understanding community issues through media. Students in teams (from multiple disciplines) develop solutions either technical or non-technical and deploy in the community. They also interact with the community on the effectiveness of their solution

MOOT Court

A Moot Court is like practicing for the real court, where students are made to participate in the staged court proceedings that are related to a fictitious dispute between parties. Mostly, moot courts are conducted in law teaching institutions where the students are expected to pursue their careers in the field of law as lawyers, arbitrators and judges; hence they’re made to practice to be trained for future along with development of the required skills.

Learn Through Practise

Learning through practice creates real interest for the students on courses with complex problem. Courses are designed with practical experiences (6 to 8 hours) apart from the lecture hours, that creates the most significant impact on the outcome of the students. The faculty mentors the students’ group to collaboratively solve more open-ended situations. Students are encouraged to pursue alternate learning strategies to acquire the competencies by solving the problems which makes the students more agile.

Scholarship

Scholarship upto 50,000/- in tuition fees for the candidates qualifying entrance examination.

Eligibility and Selection

Eligibility towards LLB programs

  • A candidate should have passed Higher Secondary Examinations (10+2) OR its equivalent examination recognized by this and should have secured not less than 50% of the total aggregate marks.

Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the marks scored in Entrance Examination, a list will be released by the university on the website after the counseling process.

  • An Advocate is a professional who can practice in a court of law. However, to become an advocate, you first need to clear the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI). After clearing the exam, the BCI issues a Certificate of Practice (CoP), which makes you eligible to practice as an advocate.
  • Litigation Lawyer: It is one of the most common career options for LLB graduates. A litigation lawyer, sometimes also known as a trial lawyer manages all phases of the litigation starting from investigation and pleadings to the discovery of the truth through trial or appeal processes.
  • Corporate Counsellor/Legal Advisor: Corporate Law is another popular career field among LLB graduates. The basic role of a corporate counsellor or a legal advisor is to advice clients about their rights, responsibilities and duties under the law. The average package offered for LLB graduates depend on the job profiles they choose. If they choose to be a legal journalist then the average package can be between INR 3 LPA to INR 7.5 LPA, and if they choose to be Litigation lawyer then the average package is INR 4 to 6 LPA.
