National Corrosion Council of India (NCCI), Karaikudi, in collaboration with CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi and Kalasalingam University organized the Corrosion Awareness Day (CAD 2016)
This congress aimed to Enlighten the impact of corrosion and motivate the young researchers to pursue corrosion research for future technologies. Nearly 250 delegates/students from various Colleges and schools participated this event. There was a poster presentation for scholars to present their research findings and three best presentationswere awarded with prizes. In addition to the above, Eminent personalitiesdelivered lectures on corrosion and its control, concrete corrosion, corrosion studies etc.
The Corrosion Awareness Day (CAD 2016) was inaugurated byShri P.Selvavinayagam, Chief Station Chemist, Chemistry Control Laboratory, Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, Kudankulam, Dr.S.Shasi Anand, Director, Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil delivered the Presidential address and Dr.S.Saravanasankar,Vice Chancellor, Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil released the souvenir, Dr. M. Adam Khan, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, International Research Centre (IRC),Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil, welcomed the gathering and Dr.G.T.Parthiban, Chief Scientist, CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute & Chairman, NCCI, Karaikudi, proposed the vote of thanks. A team comprising, Dr.G.T.Parthiban, Dr.S.SyedAzim, Dr. S.Sathiyanarayanan, Dr. V.Saraswathy, Dr.Sundar Mayavan, from CSIR – CECRI delivered talks on various aspects of corrosion to motivate the students. Dr. M. Adam Khan, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, International Research Centre (IRC),Kalasalingam University,Krishnankoil, and Dr. JT.Winowlin Jappes, Professor & Head, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil, coordinated the programme.

Saravanasankar, Vice Chancellor, Kalasalingam University Krishnankoil delivered the Valedictory address and Dr.S.SyedAzim, Chief Scientist & Head,Corrosion & Materials Protection Division, CSIR–CECRI, Karaikudi, presided over the function and Dr.G.T.Parthiban, Chief Scientist, CSIR-CECRI & Chairman, NCCI, Karaikudi, welcomed the gathering and Dr. S. Sathiyanarayanan, Secretary, NCCI & Sr. Principal Scientist, CSIR – CECRI, Karaikudi, proposed vote of thanks.
