»EMCON’08: National Conference on Embedded Systems 10th And 12th April, 2008

IEEE Student Branch organized Work Shop on National Conference on Embedded Systems EMCON’08 on 10th and 12th April, 2008.Mr.P.Suresh Kumar, Scientist E, Project Director, Aeronautical Development Agency, Bangalore released the EMCON’08 proceedings and delivered the special lecture on “Design of  Avionics System for fighter Aircraft”.Dr.S.K.Sinha, CEDT, IISc, Bangalore delivered the valedictory address.Mr.H.S.Bhattia, K.N.S Institute of Technology, Bangalore presented the best paper awards.Dr.K.Rajasekaran, Prof. & HOD, Karunya University, Coimbatore delivered the guest lecture on “Ubiquitous Embedded System”.There were Eight Technical Paper Presentation Sessions were conducted in the topics of “Embedded System Design”, “Embedded Networking I & II”, ”Embedded Applications”, “Image Processing I & II”, “FPGA Implementations” and Poster Sessions I & II.Dr.D.Devaraj, IEEE Student Branch Counselor of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education organized the function.

»EMCON’09: National Conference on Embedded Systems on 19th & 20th February 2009

The IEEE Student Branch of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Krishnankoil organized the 3rd National Conference on Embedded Systems on 19th & 20th February 2009.It was preceded by a preconference tutorial on the topic of “Real Time Operating Systems” by Dr.Rajkamal, Professor, Devi Ahilya Vishdyalaya- Indore on 18th FEB 2009. Dr.S.Radhakrishnan, Director, Admission, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education inaugurated the pre-conference tutorial and seventy five participants attended the one day tutorial.

The inauguration of the conference was held at 9.30 A.M on 19.2.09 Dr.Devaraj,Organizing secretary –EMCON’09 welcomed the gathering and gave an overview of the conference.Mr.Ravidra kumar, Director, VLSI Design Centre, CDAC, Thiruvananthapuram inaugurated the conference and in delivered the inaugural address.In this inaugural address, Mr.Ravindra kumar mentioned that Embedded System is playing a significant role in every day life today.The prices of mobile phones have come down drastically, because of the advancement in Embedded System field. He highlighted the role played by Embedded Devices in the medical field. He advised the students to learn the latest development in the field.

The conference Proceeding was released by Dr.Suresh Chander Pal, Student Activity Chair, IEEE Madras Section & Executive Vice-Chair, IEEE student and faculty members. He  explained the activities of IEEE and motivated the students to become the member of IEEE.Rajkamal Professor, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in his key note address on “Embedded System hardware and Software”, said that the children needed by every one and added  that the children   need them to play smart video games and to operate automatic chocolate-vending machine!Young people need it to borrow smart cards from parents to see the movies. The driver needs it for automatic cruise control of car. Housewives need them for Internet compliant   microwave, TV, music system and other home appliances etc.,In the two days conference 70 papers were presented by research scholars, P.G. students and faculty members from various institutions.
Apart from the paper presentations the conference had the following invited talk also:

  1. “Digital Signal Processors” by Dr.Rajasekar, Professor, Karunya University.
  2. “Design and development of Embedded System”, by Dr.Vijayanath,   Professor, BIT Mesra, Ranchi.
  3. “Digital Control of Power Electronic Converters” by Dr.G.Narayanan, Professer, IISc. Bangalore.
  4. “Radar System” by H.S.Bhatia K.N.s Institute of technology, Bangalore.

The valedictory function of the conference took place on 19th February evening. Mr.Dhanabal, Academics Manager; NI System delivered the valedictory address.Dr.C.Thangaraj, Vice-Chancellor, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education distributed certificates and the best paper award to A.Kumar, BIT for the paper on “Design of High Fan-In Dynamic CMOS Comparators with low transistor count in VLSI”. The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr.Nelson Daniel, student chairman.

»INCOS’10: First National Conference on “Intelligent Techniques in Control, Optimization and Signal Processing”, 5th and 6th April 2010.

The IEEE Student Branch of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education organized the First National Level Conference on Intelligent Techniques in Control, Optimization and Signal Processing on 5th and 6th April 2010.The conference was inaugurated by Mr T.S Rangarajan, Vice Chairman, IEEE Madras Section and Dr S.P. Natrajan, Annamalai University. The inaugural function was presided  over by the Chancellor Shri.K.Sridharan. In his presidential address the Chancellor outlined the various measures taken to enhance the research activities in the Institution. D.Devaraj, IEEE Student Branch counselor of KARE welcomed the elite gathering. The proceeding of the conference was released by Dr S.P. Natrajan, Professor,Annamalai University.In the two days Conference 55 research papers were presented in six sessions by Research scholars, Post Graduate Students and Faculty Members from various institutions in the  areas of signal processing, neural networks, power system, network technology, intelligent control and image processing.

The successful ending of the conference was marked by the valedictory function on 6th April at 4:00 P.M The Chief Guest, Dr.T.Thyagarajan Chairman, IEEE Madras Section and Prof, MIT, Chennai  elucidated the importance and role of IEEE in the society. He encouraged the students to widen the circle of IEEE Society in the campus.S.P.Natarajan, Professor, Annamalai University distributed certificates. The participants gave a good feedback, about the organization of the conference and one of the participants   said that this conference could be placed on par with international conference standards. The conference was organized to perfection under the guidance of Dr.D.Devaraj,IEEE  Student Branch Counselor.

»INCOS’11: Second National Conference on “Intelligent Techniques in Control, Optimization And Signal Processing” On 1st and 2nd April 2011

The IEEE Student Branch of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education organized the second National Level Conference on Intelligent Techniques in Control, Optimization and Signal Processing on  1st and 2nd April  2011.The conference was inaugurated by Dr.N.Vedhachalam, Former Director of VSSC Thiruvananthapuram. Dr.Vedhachalam in his inaugural address, mentioned that the Faculty Members should get   involved in research activities to bring out the new inventions. Only a good researcher can become a good teacher he quoted. Furthermore the mentioned that the Central Government has allotted sufficient funds to support and encourage research activities of colleges and universities.In order to enable Faculty members to get involved in research activities he suggested that the academic load of the faculty members be reduced. He also appreciated the services of  KARE in offering quality education to the students from rural background. The inaugural function was presided over by the Chancellor Shri.K.Sridharan. Dr.P.S.Kannan appreciated the efforts taken by the KLU IEEE Student branch members for organizing the conference on the important topic of Intelligent Techniques and its applications. The electronic version of the proceeding was released by Dr.D.H.Rao.Principal,Jain College of Engineering, Belgaum.In the two days Conference 60 research papers were presented in six sessions by Research scholars, Post Graduate Students and Faculty Members from various institutions in the  areas of signal processing, neural networks, power system, network technology, intelligent control and image processing.

»INCOS’12-Third National Conference On “Intelligent Techniques In Control, Optimization And Signal Processing” On 2nd And 3rd March 2012

The IEEE Students Branch of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education organized the Third National conference on “Intelligent Techniques in Control, Optimization and Signal Processing” on 2nd  and 3rdMarch 2012.D.Devaraj, IEEE Branch Counselor and Convenor of the conference informed that the IEEE Student Branch of Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education is organizing the conference for the sixth year in succession. The inaugural function of the conference was held at 9.30 AM on 2nd March, 2012.P.S.Kannan, former professor of Thiyagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai was the chief guest of the function. Dr.P.S.Kannan in his inaugural address explained the advancement in intelligent techniques and their role in design and development of industrial systems. He advised the participants and students to take up research in the area of  Robust Control System design using intelligent techniques. He appreciated the efforts taken by the KLU-IEEE Student Branch members for organizing the conference on the important topic of Intelligent Techniques and its applications. Mr. Radeep Krishna, AP-1/ECE, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education welcomed the gatheringThe souvenir of the conference was released by Dr. N. Albert Singh, Divisional Engineer, BSNL, Nagercoil. The IEEE Student Branch of KARE organized the Fifth National conference on “Intelligent Techniques in Control, Optimization and Signal Processing” on 28th & 29th March, 2014.The inaugural function of the conference was held at 9.30 A.M. Dr D. Devaraj, IEEE Branch Counselor, Dean, Planning & Development welcomed the elite gathering.
