B.Tech-Aeronautical Engineering

VISION

To be a Centre of Excellence in Education and Research in Aeronautical Engineering to meet the global requirement of Industry and Society.

MISSION

1. To impart Quality Education and Research in Aeronautical Engineering through excellence in teaching-learning process and state of the art to the Students

2. To inculcate students with ethical values and innovative ideas for future leadership in industry and to face Societal Challenges

Overview

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering was established in 2017. It provides students with a practical learning experience with state-of-the-art laboratories, experienced faculty members and thought-provoking teaching pedagogy. The department offers a B.Tech degree program in Aeronautical Engineering. AICTE approves the programme. The faculty of the B.Tech-Aeronautical Engineering motivates students to think out of the box regularly, resulting in the development of Eco Bricks and Acoustic Enclosure. Considering all the practical learning requirements, the department has state-of-the-art laboratories like Solid Propulsion research Laboratory and Aerospace Materials Laboratory funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Aeronautical Research and Development Board (ARDB). Laying emphasis more on research, the department currently has funded research projects in Supersonic Combustion (SCRAMJET) and Dual Combustion Ramjet (DCR) Engine. In addition to the academic laboratories, students are also encouraged to experience the funded research laboratories to overview the research ecosystem. The department has collaborated with Winkalam- The space initiative Education, Chennai, to offer in-plant training to the students of B.Tech Aeronautical engineering. At Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, we believe in the practical nature of the domain and focus on learning by doing it practically. Focusing on the practical exposure of the students, the department has an active Aero Club and Student Chapters of major professional bodies like Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Students are regularly participating in the “National and International events”. The curriculum and the content are prepared and approved by the experts from IITs, DRDO, ISRO etc. Most of the students from the B.Tech Aeronautical programme are doing their final year Project/ internships at industries/ International universities for a semester.
